Abstract

Currently, the quality of water bodies involves laboratory analyzes of physical, chemical and microbiological aspects that are changed due to urbanization. The objective of this research was to analyze three aspects occurring in two urban rivers: Prainha and Uraim, in the municipality of Paragominas - PA. The method used was quantitative and qualitative in scope and exploratory in nature. Water sampling took place at six different points (three in each of the two water bodies analyzed) in accordance with recommendations by the National Water Agency and the National Health Foundation. Laboratory analysis of physical parameters (electrical conductivity, temperature, turbidity, total solids, luminosity, wind speed and depth); chemical (hydrogen potential, biological demand for oxygen, phosphorus, nitrogen, dissolved oxygen, redox potential); microbiological (thermotolerant coliforms). The data obtained and analyzed indicated that electrical conductivity variations are associated with the seasonal period analyzed; the temperature increase trend in the Prainha River (27 °C) was more effective due to the absence of marginal vegetation. In terms of chemistry, the pH is slightly acidic (5.0 to 5.9), and in terms of microbiology, the concentration of thermotolerant coliforms tends to increase during the rainy season (+ 41.5%), due to surface runoff. during the rainy season on the Prainha River, which do not occur on the Uraim River.
