Abstract

The prevalence of cognitive function decline in the elderly is expected to continue to increase in the future. This condition occurs due to the increase of the aging population all the time. This study aims to assess the role of family support associated with cognitive function in the elderly. Cross-sectional design was used as a research approach conducted on 483 elderlies aged 60 years or over. The questionnaire was used as an instrument for data collection. The data were analyzed using bivariate analysis through the chi-square test. The study results conclude that emotional, informational, and instrumental support were significantly related to cognitive function in the elderly. The provision of education to families about the vital role of families in the cognitive function of the elderly.
